My process in creating Learning Experiences

I have selected my favourite tools and theories that I work with.

Before anything...

Needs Analysis and Learning Objectives

I truly believing in beginning with conducting a thorough needs analysis, identifying the knowledge gaps and learning needs.

It is based on this analysis, that I formulate clear and measurable learning objectives that guide me during the course development process.

Identifying and Collaborating with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)

Leveraging my collaboration skills, and engaging with the right Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) highly contributes to the knowledge to the course content.

My approach involves recognizing SMEs as valuable resources and understanding their pivotal role in the course development process. Matching the expertise of SMEs with the content requirements, I am certain that the knowledge shared is accurate, up-to-date, and directly relevant to learners' needs.

I strive to make my SMEs feeling motivated to share their insights. Harnessing the expertise of SMEs, helps me to break complex technical content into digestible, engaging learning material, ensuring that the course met its learning objectives while remaining accessible and impactful for participants.

Creating the content

Leaning on diverse instructional strategies, to create engaging and comprehensive course materials is fundamental.

Technology Integration
I strive to use all Learning Management System (LMS) functionalities for content delivery, discussions, and assessment for creating effective learning experiences.

Real-world Simulation
Another super important element for me, is to keep in mind the application of the learnings. This transfer of knowledge process has to be considered in the early stages of a program creation.

Assessment Strategies

When I develop any learning content, I keep in mind how the learners will be assessed and how these evaluation methods are aligned with the learnings.

Whatever I choose to assess learning (quizzes, assignments, or practical projects) needs to be reflective of what was covered throughout the content.

Feedback Integration

Throughout the course development process, I am actively looking for feedback from stakeholders and SMEs. This approach ensures that the course content, structure, and activities are refined to meet the needs and expectations of the audience.

A challenge that is very common is to address the feedback received, select the changes that need to be made based on impact and importance and closing this loops with the feedback provider.

Launching

Seamlessly transitioning from course development to delivery, is a learner-centered approach. My goal is for learners to experience a cohesive journey, accessing multimedia-rich content, engaging activities, and have insightful assessments.

When launching a learning experience, in my mind I am always wondering how the learner will interact with what I built or with the trainer (if there is one) and with each other.

My commitment is to providing learners with an immersive and impactful educational experience that fosters growth and mastery.

Embracing iteration

Understanding the importance of continuous improvement, helps me to build in opportunities for participants to reflect on their learning experience and share feedback. This loop of feedback and reflection guides me to make enhancements to the course.

This is one of my favourite process involves a meticulous blend of instructional design principles, and a commitment to offering a comprehensive, engaging, and practical course that evolves through feedback.

Understanding that improvements and changes is part of the process, is as important as addressing the problem in first place!

APPLYING LEARNING THEORIES

I employ the ADDIE model in my role by collaborating with experts to analyze needs, designing engaging content, developing learning materials, implementing effective delivery methods, and evaluating outcomes for continuous improvement.

I infuse Design Thinking principles into crafting impactful learning experiences. By empathizing with learners, defining clear objectives, and iterating creative solutions, I ensure engagement and growth. This iterative, collaborative approach creates relevant and resonant learning journeys.

As an L&D Program Manager, I leverage Kirkpatrick's Model for comprehensive training assessment. This model's four levels enable me to evaluate training from various angles: learners' reactions, the knowledge and skills they acquire, the extent to which they apply these in their roles, and ultimately, the tangible impact on our organization's success. By employing this model, I ensure that our training initiatives not only engage and educate but also drive meaningful, measurable results that align with our business objectives.

I utilize Bloom's Digital Taxonomy to craft engaging learning experiences. Starting with foundational understanding, I guide learners through increasingly complex tasks that involve analysis, evaluation, and synthesis. Integrating technology, I promote critical thinking and real-world application. This approach empowers learners to confidently navigate the digital landscape, fostering both knowledge acquisition and practical skills.
